Carolina Fiber Communications, Inc. was hired to join a project team working on a 250,000-square-foot plant with the capability to run up to 120,000 liters of bioreactor capacity. At the time, the site was one of the largest cell culture manufacturing facilities in the world that can produce multiple products. The project expanded the client’s capacity to quickly launch new products and set new standards in the biotech industry for production cost-efficiency and flexible multi product operations.
The client began making product just 32 months after groundbreaking of the multi-product biologics manufacturing facility. The construction team, which included CFC, Inc., delivered the project to the client under budget and one-month ahead of schedule.  In addition, the site celebrated 2 million hours without a lost workday case

Project Summary:
Carolina Fiber Communications, Inc was hired as a part of the construction team on this important project for one of the world’s leading chemical companies. The project earned the prestigious Building Star designation by the N.C. Department of Labor for the rigorous safety program implemented on site.

The new research facility is a 3-story, 60,000 square foot greenhouse that will be used for soy, corn and other broadacre crop research. The Company invested $20 million dollars for the new BioScience greenhouse in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

Project Type: New Fractionation Biotech Facility

Project Summary:
The client, a global biotherapeutic and biotechnology company, wanted to significantly expand their manufacturing capacity.

The client chose to augment an existing Clayton facility in North Carolina. The project included a 160,000-square-foot fractionation expansion which will allow a 43% increase over their current plasma processing capacity.

The 160,000 sq ft project included new centrifuge technology, expansion of existing plant utilities and systems, and revamp of an existing ethanol fractionation facility. The site contractor provided an integrated approach utilizing modular construction expertise that facilitated an aggressive schedule date.

Project Type: Flagship Facility Wood Pellet Manufacturing Site
Location: Ahoskie, North Carolina, U.S.
Project Summary:
Carolina Fiber Communications, Inc. was hired to design and implement a network system for a leading company who focuses on the production of wood pellets. The development of a flagship facility for this organization was announced in December 2010 and the site began manufacturing pellets in November of 2011. It was built on the site of a former Georgia Pacific sawmill with new infrastructure purpose-built for wood pellet production. The site has a production capacity of approximately 400,000 tons per year (365,000 metric tons) and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As a result of the success in implementation and satisfaction of performance and quality, CFC was subsequently hired to design and install systems for two additional sites for the same manufacturer in North Carolina and Virginia.
